proteus gowanus installed!
Ariel and I spent a few hours last night at Proteus Gowanus hanging up our work. If you haven’t been, PG is a really awesome art space in Brooklyn, full of little rooms collectively run by different groups of artists with quirky sets of fascinations: discontinued library books rescued for their fantastic illustrations, taxidermy, the history of the Gowanus Canal, the Fixer’s Collective, a gallery space current filled with neo-Shamanic art. It’s a good place to hang out for an afternoon and I’m really glad we were asked to be in the show there.
And the installation looks good! We’re really happy with it! (Ariel’s parallel blog about it is here.) Here are some photos. I’m still not 100% sure I’ll make it to the opening on Saturday – will try to make it for the first hour – but Ariel and I will be doing a program there in April probably so stay tuned for more info.
Here are some photos of it:
The images featured in it are here and one of Ariel’s two videos is here. The installation also includes little jars of specimens we collected along the way, plus a timeline up above.
Now I have to get back to my installation for Purim on Saturday… this zoetrope is going to KILL me, but I think I almost understand what I’m doing. Also experimenting with Super-8 and stop motion animation. 48 more hours to figure it out…
Also I got back a bunch of film last night, from the snow day, Hey Queen, my friend Cory’s wedding, and a surprise roll from Barcelona. I posted some to facebook last night but will do a better edit and post here when I have time to breathe again next week!
