The most prestigious lesbian pageant in the world returned to the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg Sunday night, packing in a sold-out crowd of rowdy dykes and trannies (and a few gay boys) and presenting the esteemed judges—Bitch, JD Samson, Sarah Greenwood, the World Famous *BOB*, Michael Musto and yours truly—with a helluva hard decision. Miss Rebel Cupcake eked out a win with her fierce butchness, Hugh Hefner–style lounge pj’s (for the evening-wear competition) and Do-Ask-Do-Tell platform. But the first runner-up (and seeming audience favorite) made a great showing with her save-the-unicorns platform, talent of lesbilicious sex-dance-pantomime (with backup unicorns) and whip-smart banter with Musto. Ringleader Murray Hill was in very fine form—especially when he organized the impromptu filming of a quick “It Gets Better” video, getting the entire crowd to show their love for the young ones.
