INTO THE NEON

12Jan11

A year ago last week, I effectively ended a lengthy hiatus from shooting pictures and began photographing my life again.  It felt too steeped in wonder NOT to… something magical was coming together.  A trickle of images quickly turned into a glittering sea: the floodgates were open.

It’s been a year and I still can’t stop recording the way light falls on the beloved creatures I call friends.  It’s only appropriate, then, that my debut exhibition of these images will be in a show we are organizing together, in a space gifted to us by the real estate gods (via the arts group chashama).

Please join us for the opening of INTO THE NEON on Thursday, January 27, from 6-8 pm.  If you are unable to make it on the 27th, fear not: we’ll have open daytime gallery hours through Feb. 19, and a full list of evening programming including performance art, a poetry reading, faerie heart circles, and a queer elders storytelling night, culminating in a closing ritual on February 18.  We’re planning to create a very special home for our work that I hope you’ll find comfortable to spend time in.

I hope you can join us, and help me celebrate a year of magical photography.
